A couple of weeks to go, Karen did a great job on the weekend getting some of the cupboards cleared. Joel made decision on two fish crates of videos down to a few.
Easter is always special, we had a good Friday evening service followed by hot cross buns.
For Easter Sunday I had made some resurrection buns Saturday night they were a bit small and hard but sweet and cinnamony everyone seemed to like them with a cup of tea after church.
I was pleased to hear Molly Wright and her friend from Dunedin saying after breaking one open and sharing it saying the right thing when seeing it empty. "He is risen(the right response was given) " He is risen indeed!"
During the service the old cardboard chicken made an appearance, it squawks via help of dental floss and and yoghurt container, produced easter eggs for the children.
Anzac day Joel went with me to the dawn parade, filling for Tuinana who when here always came with me.
(It was great having Joel down from Auckland for Easter)
I played the pipes as the RSA and those attending the dawn Parade marched from the RSA to the cenotaph.
As Padre I prayed as part of my duties.
I stayed and played a lament while people who had got up in the dark placed their poppies. I have now handed the pipes over to Joel. Dad was 70 when he sent gave them to me when I was in New Guinea. There is a bit of history sitting on those pipe they piped the West Coast regiment away in the World war 1 and he played in them in Camp at Burnahm For World war 2.
At 10am there was the citizen parade where I spoke, Karen laid a wreath on behalf of the combined churches of Reefton. It was good turnout and a sombre special day my last public duty here for a while.
Today is a great Autumn day here in sun makes the colours of the trees brilliant while the wind works at spreading them on the ground.
Karen was having an early farewell breakfast with some from the Marae. She has a busy week with the new nurse and farewells.
I am about to think what do I pack up now? c u
